No, here's why:

To optimise the manufacturing process we rely on information contained in the EDA files which is not exported in the gerbers. Gerbers are a fantastic standard for transmitting vector information for PCB layers but they lack most of the information required to fully define an assembly, for instance:

  • Stackup
  • PCB Parameters (thickness etc)
  • Part specifications
  • Footprint specifications
  • Package orientations

Some of this information can be provided in ad-hoc BOM/XY spreadsheets but it is costly, time consuming and error prone for a manufactuer to normalise this data. Instead at CircuitHub we require the original fully defined design database which is present in the EDA you used to complete the design.
