What components are included in my BOM?

How CircuitHub determines which components are included in the parsed BOM based on placement attributes like SMT pads and through-holes.

How BOMs work in Circuithub

In Circuithub, the BOM (bill of materials) shown in the Project page only includes components that are placed on the board. This means parts with surface-mount (SMT) pads or through-holes.

What gets included automatically

  • Components with SMT pads or through-holes
  • Any device in the CAD that has physical placement attributes

What gets excluded

  • Barcode labels, adhesives, mechanical fasteners, or anything without pads or holes
  • Non-plated graphics or text layers
  • Visual-only elements or reference drawings

These items are not included in the parsed BOM and won't show in the Parts tab.

How to include barcode labels or mechanical parts

If you need non-electronic components added to your order (e.g. barcode labels, labels, adhesives, fasteners), please include them as an issue after placing the order. We'll manually review and include them as part of the assembly process.

In summary

If a component has no pad or hole, it won't be parsed into the BOM. Use order issues to flag anything that should be added manually.
