How workspaces organize access to projects, parts, orders, billing, and settings for a team.

Workspaces keep each team's work and account information together in CircuitHub. The workspace you select determines which projects, parts, orders, and other data you can see and where new work is created.

What belongs to a workspace?

Each workspace has its own:

Projects and revisions
Parts and consignment settings
Orders, production issues, and shipments
Shipping addresses and payment methods
Billing, tax, and business information

A workspace can have multiple members. Members share access to the workspace's data, so use separate workspaces when information for different teams or clients needs to remain separate.

Switch between workspaces

Use the workspace selector at the top left of CircuitHub to see the workspaces you belong to and switch between them.

When you switch workspaces:

CircuitHub shows the projects, parts, orders, issues, and shipments for that workspace.
New projects and revisions are created in that workspace.
Orders, addresses, payment methods, and billing information are associated with that workspace.

If you switch workspaces while viewing a project or order, CircuitHub takes you back to the corresponding list because the item might not belong to the newly selected workspace.

Create a workspace

Open Settings.
Select Profile.
Find the Workspaces section and select New workspace.
Enter a workspace name and URL.
Select Create workspace.

The workspace URL is its unique identifier and cannot currently be changed after creation.

Collaborate with colleagues

Adding someone to a workspace gives them access to the workspace as a whole, not to a single project. If a colleague should only see work for a particular team or client, create a separate workspace for that work.

Before adding a colleague

Your colleague needs a CircuitHub account before you can add them.

Ask them for their CircuitHub username. They can find it by opening Settings, selecting Profile, and looking under their profile details.

Add a workspace member

To manage the members of the selected workspace:

Use the workspace selector to choose the workspace you want to share.
Open Settings.
Select Members under Workspace.
Select Add member.
Enter your colleague's CircuitHub username and select Add member.

Once added, your colleague can switch to the workspace and access its projects and other workspace data.

Owners and admins can manage members when they have the required permissions. A workspace owner cannot be removed.

Projects are available to every member of the workspace that owns them. To give a colleague access to an existing project, add them to that workspace.

If the project should instead be managed as an independent copy in another workspace:

Open the project actions menu at the top of the Project page.
Select Duplicate project.
Choose the destination workspace and enter a name for the copy.
Select Duplicate.

The duplicate is a separate project. Changes and orders made in one project do not affect the other.

Manage workspace settings

Open Settings while the workspace is selected to manage:

Workspace name and contact details
Members
Shipping addresses
Payment methods
Business and tax information

Your name, email address, phone number, and username belong to your personal profile and remain the same when you switch workspaces.

Common ways to use workspaces

One company or team: Keep projects, orders, and billing shared between colleagues.
Separate departments: Give each department its own projects, purchasing details, and order history.
Consultants and design houses: Create a separate workspace for each client whose data needs to remain isolated.
External collaborators: Add a contractor to a workspace containing the work they need. Remember that they can access the other data in that workspace too.
